I find the backstage candids more captivating than the professional runway shots or even most editorials. It’s always interesting to see how the high-fashion models who are generally within the age group of 14-19 years old are picked up from their hometowns with little to no knowledge of the industry, get flown to the big city to live in the agency model homes during runway seasons, and return year after year with a higher sense of knowledge and appreciation for fashion. Their style grows, their confidence grows, and still there’s that innocence of coming from their small towns (in most cases) that brings a beautiful awkwardness to the table. Coupled with the gorgeous preshow setup of the makeup and hair, their personal sense of style is only enhanced in the photographs — as simple as their style may be.
